Steve Ross Backs Archer Aviation’s Air-Taxi Network to Ease South Florida Traffic

South Florida’s traffic gridlock may soon have a high-tech solution. Developer Steve Ross has partnered with Archer Aviation to launch an electric air-taxi network designed to move travelers quickly between major hubs such as West Palm Beach, Miami, and North Bay Village.

Archer plans to use its Midnight eVTOL aircraft—quiet, electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles that hold four passengers plus a pilot. The company expects its longest routes to take about 30 minutes, potentially replacing long, congested drives with fast point-to-point flights. Early estimates suggest pricing could resemble a premium ride-share trip, roughly comparable to luxury services like Uber Black.

Planned vertiports include Ross-owned Hard Rock Stadium and Apogee Golf Club, along with new sites in the Magic City Innovation District and other high-traffic areas. The network aims to offer a clean, efficient alternative to driving and help relieve South Florida’s growing transportation strain.

The timeline depends on Federal Aviation Administration approval, as Archer’s aircraft represent a new category of aviation under review. South Florida is quickly emerging as a testing ground for eVTOL innovation, with multiple companies exploring advanced flight options in the region.

If approved, the service could transform how residents and visitors move around the tri-county area—bringing faster commutes, reduced traffic, and a glimpse of futuristic travel.
